Marion Sorensen

Offering Counselling for:
Individuals: depression, anxiety, P.T.S.D., stress management, relationship issues, grief/loss, divorce recovery, anger management, issues arising from abuse (physical, emotional, sexual).
Couples: conflict resolution work, issues of control and domestic violence, affairs, separation.
Background:
Marion completed the Kinections Couple and Family counselling course in 1995 and subsequently worked part-time with a community counselling agency. She then worked at Foundations Counselling Centre, Carseldine from August 2000 until the present. She is an accredited mental health social worker, approved to work with the “Better Access” medicare program and the Metro North Medicare Local M.I.N.D. program. She is a member of the A.A.S.W.
Marion is married, with three adult children. She enjoys bush walking, coffees with friends and listening to live music. She has a background in child and family welfare and has been involved in university Christian ministry for many years.
Counselling Approach:
Marion uses an overall systemic approach to counselling, drawing on understandings of process from psychodynamic theory and techniques from cognitive/behavioural, narrative and inter-personal therapy. She seeks to liaise with other professionals involved in a person’s care. e.g. doctor, psychiatrist, child therapist for optimal therapeutic outcomes.
