Dr Julie Salter has worked as a psychologist for 21 years, and has experience in both public and private sectors. She has worked as a psychologist at Greenslopes Private Hospital (where she continues to work as a visiting Allied Health specialist), has been contracted to the Department of Defence and in Private Practice.

Areas of particular interest include trauma, anxiety and the mood disorders. Julie’s PhD research examined the intergenerational transmission of mental health investigating specifically whether adult children were more at risk of a mental health condition if they had a father with a diagnosis of post traumatic stress disorder when compared with the general population. Her research also examined why this might be the case.

Julie's work is guided by a philosophy that all people have the ability to reach their fullest potential and she strives to empower individuals to take control of their mental health condition.

In working to help people better understand their mental health and to improve their relationships and quality of life Julie employs a number of therapeutic approaches, including CBT, Schema Therapy and DBT.
